Snapper’s weigh in for March 2, 2023 was 179.00 grams. For the past week Snapper has lost 0.3 grams due to the loss of not having a heat lamp for a few days!
Snapper lives in a small aquarium tank, filled with rocks for him to climb on and little pebbles for him to play with.
Did you know that a snapping turtle’s favorite foods are live insects and worms? Most snapping turtles are most afraid of humans on land and only snap in defense when they feel threatened!
In our Chemistry class this week we have been learning on how to balance and name chemical reactions, and how to classify different types of reactions.

Friday nights Region 1A semi-final boys basketball game vs. Milbank will be played at 6:30 PM at Groton Area.
Due to weather we are changing the schedule and game times for tomorrows Region 1A Boys Basketball games. Milbank will play Redfield at 5 PM and Groton will play Webster at 6:30.

Greetings. Due to the forecast and anticipated travel impacts the Groton Area School District will be dismissing at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 21. There will be no 10:30 AM preschool and no Junior Kindergarten today.
Due to poor travel conditions tonight's girls basketball game scheduled at Milbank has been postponed. I will send out more information about a make up date when it becomes available.
The junior high boys basketball game scheduled for Monday, February 20 at Clark Willow Lake has been canceled.
Due to forecasted weather conditions girls region 1A first round playoff games are being moved from Tuesday, February 21 to Monday, February 20. The Groton Area Tigers will play Waubay Summit at 7:30 at Milbank HS on Monday February 20 with the start time of approximately 7:30. Go Tigers.
Welcome to The Snapper Report! This week’s report is brought to you by Hannah Monson. Snapper’s weigh in for 2/14/22 was 156.20 grams. For the past week Snapper has grown 22.64 grams! Snapper’s environment will be changing, because it is no longer safe for him to have small colorful rocks. Instead, he will only have rocks larger than has head. He is also really enjoying ham cubes. An interesting fact about Snapper and other snapping turtles is that they hiss. Typically, it is because they retract into their shells. Additionally, snapping turtles are one of the smartest reptiles around. In Organic Chemistry, we just finished up our chapter on aldehydes and ketones. More specifically, we learned about naming them, their structures, and reactions.
Due to the current visibility and "no travel" advisory in parts of our District, Groton Area School District will be closed today, Wednesday, February 15. Stay safe!!!

Welcome to the snapper report! This week’s report is brought to you by Karsyn Jangula. Snapper’s weigh in for February 7th was 133.56 grams. For the past week snapper has grown 10.56 grams. Snapper’s tank has a lot of colorful pebbles he tries to eat daily and has a lot of rocks Mrs. Gonsoir found outside the school. In the wild, snapping turtles can live up to 30 years old. Snapping turtles can hold their breathe from anywhere to 45-50 minutes. In Chemistry we are learning about molar mass and how to find molar mass and percentage composition in compounds.
