With the win last night, our Groton Tigers Boys Basketball Team have earned a spot in the SoDak16! They will play Dell Rapids in Watertown at the Civic Arena on Tuesday evening at 6:00PM. A win on Tuesday will secure them a spot in the State A Tournament! - Pep Rally/Send-off will be from 2:50-3:10 on Tuesday in the Arena. - Theme for the SoDak16 game will be WHITE OUT. There will be an informal meeting regarding a potential co-op with the Langford School District following the Region 1A Boys Basketball Game on March 1, 2024 (approximately 8:30 PM) in the GHS Library Conference Room open to anyone who would like an update on discussions that have taken place.

Students from Mrs. Hubbart's Intro to Sports Medicine Class got to visit Northern State University today! Thank you to the North State Human Performance Lab staff, Athletic Training staff, Strength and Conditioning staff, and a last-minute tour of the new football facilities by Head Coach Schmidt!

Mr. Thorson's Senior Government students got to visit the Capitol yesterday and listen to legislative sessions!

It is time for Region 1A Boys Basketball action! On Tuesday, February 27th at 6:00 PM, your Groton Area Tigers take on the Redfield Pheasants in Groton! Following the first game (around 7:30 PM), Waubay/Summit and Aberdeen Roncalli will be playing in Groton. Come cheer on your Tigers as they start post-season play tomorrow night!

Congratulations to all of our Groton Tiger Wrestlers on a very successful season!! 7 wrestlers qualified for state and 4 placed! Liza Krueger placed 3rd, Reganne Miles placed 4th, Christian Ehresmann placed 4th, and Korbin Kucker placed 6th! We are so proud of your grit, perseverance, and determination all season. A special thank you to Coach Zoellner and all of the coaches for leading our Tigers to grow and improve each day. The time and commitment our coaches and athletes have put in has not gone unnoticed. Way to go, Tigers!

Tonight is the last regular season HOME game for our Boys Basketball Team! Come cheer them on as they face the Knights from Aberdeen Christian. Junior High plays at 4PM, JV at 6PM, with Varsity to follow. We will have little dancers at halftime of the JV game and FCCLA Shoot for a Pop at halftime of the Varsity game. Go, Tigers!!

State Wrestling Update: - Wyatt, Walker, and Kyla lost their first match yesterday but battled hard. They will wrestle right away during the 9:30 AM session this morning. - Korbin won his first and lost his second and will wrestle in the second round wrestlebacks in the morning session as well! - Liza, Reganne and Christian won 2 matches yesterday and will wrestle in the semifinals today! That session begins at 3:00 PM. Keep fighting hard, boys and girls! We are cheering for you!

Good Morning. Elementary students will be attending the wrestling pep rally today at the HS Arena starting at 3:00. We will bring all the students back to the elementary for dismissals. We hope to dismiss on time but there is a good chance we will be a little late.

Wishing Good Luck to our Lady Tigers as they begin Region play tonight against the Webster Bearcats at Roncalli High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 20 minutes after the first game, which is estimated to be around 7:30 PM. Play Hard and Have Fun, Ladies!!

A State Wrestling Pep Rally will be on Tuesday, February 20th at 3:00PM in the Arena! All our GHS wrestlers will be recognized for a fantastic season! Congratulations to the following for making it to state this year: Liza Krueger, Wyatt Hagen, Walker Zoellner, Christian Ehressman, Korbin Kucker and our Doland Girls: Kyla Logan and Reganne Miles! This Pep Rally is open to the public so please come help pump these wrestlers up for the State Tournament!

Congratulations to our Middle School Wrestlers on a great season! There were ten who wrestled yesterday at the State MS Tournament, and five of them came away as place winners! We are very proud of all of you! Donavan Block - 4th Place, Keegan Kucker - 8th Place, Kyson Kucker - 5th Place, Maddie Little - 3rd Place, Layne Johnson - 7th Place. Congratulations!!
