Welcome to The Snapper Report! This week’s report is brought to you by Hannah Monson. Snapper’s weigh in for 2/14/22 was 156.20 grams. For the past week Snapper has grown 22.64 grams! Snapper’s environment will be changing, because it is no longer safe for him to have small colorful rocks. Instead, he will only have rocks larger than has head. He is also really enjoying ham cubes. An interesting fact about Snapper and other snapping turtles is that they hiss. Typically, it is because they retract into their shells. Additionally, snapping turtles are one of the smartest reptiles around. In Organic Chemistry, we just finished up our chapter on aldehydes and ketones. More specifically, we learned about naming them, their structures, and reactions.

Mrs. Gonsoir rearranged Snapper’s tank recently and he has started swimming more and more! Welcome to The Snapper Report! This week’s report is brought to you by Camryn Kurtz. Snapper’s weigh in from 2 weeks ago was 72.18, but now it is 97.59! Snapper has gown 25.41 grams in the span of 2 weeks. Snapper’s environment has a massive rock where he’s typically under, and he has a loud filter that runs 24/7. Snapping turtles kill other turtles by biting off their heads. This behavior might be to protect their territory from other turtles, or it may be a very inefficient feeding behavior. Currently in Chemistry we are learning about the different types of bonds. The two main ones are Ionic which is when a nonmetal and a metal bond, and covalent which is when two nonmetals bond.

Sorry Ava's report is posted late... technical difficulties on Mrs. Gonsoir's part. Welcome to The Snapper Report! This week’s report is brought to you by Ava Wienk. Snapper’s weigh in for December 20, 2022, was 54.56 grams. Due to us not being able to take a report last week, Snapper has grown quite a bit. He has grown 8.79 grams from two weeks ago. Snapper has been moving around more and enjoys sitting on top of his rock. Snapper’s main diet is currently still ReptoMin floating food sticks. He sometimes will eat mealworms, but it depends on the day. The average speed of a snapping turtle on land is 2.4 mph but can increase up to 10 to 12 mph when they are in water. In Chemistry l right now, we are learning about metallic bonds and the properties of metals. Come back when Christmas break is over to see Snapper’s progress!
