GHS Booster PAC is seeking parents and students from grades 6 to 11 to assist in our concession stand throughout the school year. Fall sports are in full swing here at Groton Area! Junior High and High School Volleyball had their first official practices today. The HS squad kicks off their season in exactly two weeks, as they face the Chargers from Hamlin!

Attention Groton Area Elementary students and families: On Monday, August 21 from 4:00-6:00 PM we will be hosting an open house. Students are welcome to bring their school bags and supplies at this time. Kindergarten will still have their orientation meetings on the first day of school.

6th Grade Back to School Welcome Walk will be held at the MS/HS building on Monday August 21st from 3:30-5:30. Join us to find your locker, get your schedule, meet some staff, and become more familiar with your new building! Go Tigers!

Our Groton Tiger Boys golf team began their fall season on Monday, August 7th! Coach Guthmiller has 9 golfers on his squad this year. Their first meet is Monday, August 14th at Sioux Valley(Volga). Best of luck, gentlemen!

Groton Area Elementary students who are required to have a school planner will not have to purchase one for $3.00. Elementary PAC will be purchasing all of the planners for our students. Please do not send $3.00 to the office as referred to in the old elementary supply list. Thank you!!

Our GHS Football Squad began their season yesterday! We are looking forward to watching these young men under the Friday Night Lights in just two weeks. Join us at home on Friday, August 18th @ 7pm, as the Tigers take on the Cavaliers from Roncalli!

Fall Soccer Schedule Changes: - NO girls game on Saturday, August 12th with Dakota Valley. - Schedule Change for games on Friday, August 18th with Belle Fourche: Girls Varsity @ 3pm, Boys Varsity @ 5pm.

Elementary Parents. We had the football field sprayed for mosquitos yesterday but the rain last night may have made it less effective. Please plan to bring bug spray for Friday's track and field day. Thank you!!!

Good Afternoon. Here are a few OST reminders: 1. Closed this Friday after the track and field meet. 2. Open from 12:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, May 25 (last day of school) 3. Closed Friday, May 26 and Monday, May 29. 4. Summer OST will officially open on Tuesday, May 30. 5. Summer hours will be 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Good Morning. Due to the forecasted weather for tomorrow, the elementary Track and Field Day and family picnic will be postponed to Friday, May 19. Information sheets will be sent home today. Thank you.

We are looking for two individuals to take tickets at tomorrow's NEC Track meet at the Groton track from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. If you're interested in helping, please contact the high school at 605-397-8381. Ticket takers for this event will be compensated by the NEC.

Welcome to The Snapper Report! This week’s report is brought to you by Abby Jensen. Snapper’s weigh in for 4/25/2023 was 285.1 grams. Over the past week, Snapper has grown 18.7 grams. Snappers’ tank is well kept, but she is almost too big for it. She gets cared for every day by Mrs. Gonsoir. The students love her and see her every day. Snapper enjoys her daily meals of Repto sticks. She doesn’t really like her ham anymore. She likes to be very active and with her growing size, she is almost ready for the wild. Snapper’s species is a snapping turtle. Turtles don’t have ears, but they have thin flaps of skin covering internal ear bones, which receive vibrations and low-frequency sounds. Our Chemistry class is learning about states of matter this week.

Good evening. On Monday morning – April 17, 2023 – the Groton Area School District will be participating in a mock crash exercise. The event will begin shortly after 8:30 AM and will involve emergency personnel, emergency vehicles, and equipment in the high school parking lot.
