The Groton Area School District is seeking nominations to recognize outstanding classroom teachers for their tremendous contributions.
Nominations may be submitted by administrators, colleagues, students, parents, or community members.
The nomination window opens on Monday, January 5, 2026 and closes on Friday, January 30, 2026.
One teacher will be selected from the nominees as the 2026 Groton Area Teacher of the Year. The teacher should:
Have a superior ability to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;
Be an exceptionally skilled and dedicated classroom teacher;
Have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues;
Play an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school; and
Be poised, articulate, and have the energy to withstand the demanding schedule that would accompany selection as the South Dakota Teacher of the Year.
