The Groton Area School District is proud of its students, staff, community, and school board members. At the February school board meeting, they were presented with Certificates of Appreciation from the Associated School Boards of South Dakota for School Board Appreciation Week.

Tigh Fliehs is in his fifth year as a member of the Groton Area School District Board of Education.
Tigh says, "I'm proud to be a member for the Groton Area School District because I feel like I'm helping make decisions that will positively affect the students of our district, and the students are our future. The Groton Area District is a great one because I feel like we are big enough to offer a wide variety of classes and extracurricular programs, and yet small enough that the students will never feel like just another number which is, in part, to our great staff at Groton."
