October 25, 2023 has officially be designated as Winter Weather Preparedness Day in South Dakota.
The National Weather Service has a great website with tips for all kinds of different winter weather scenarios that we see in our area.
As we enter into the season when it may be necessary to delay the start of school, dismiss school early, or stay home because of the weather conditions, we wanted to share the best ways to stay informed of the latest weather-related announcements from the Groton Area School District.
Weather-related closures, cancellations, and schedule changes are published in the following places:
The school district app: Groton Area Tigers, SD available for free in the Google Play store and the Apple iTunes store. Be sure to check the notifications settings on your device and within the app and allow notifications if you wish to receive them.
Voice call and email. When there are changes to the school start times, dismissal times, or school cancellations, we send out mass voice calls and emails as well.
