Fall Athletics Meeting

It is time for another exciting year of Groton Area Tigers athletics!

The annual fall parent meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 5 at 7:00 PM in the GHS Arena.  Parents and athletes entering grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to hear directly from their coaches about the expectations for the upcoming seasons.  It will also provide the opportunity to complete the required pre-participation documents.

Student-athletes are required to have a complete athletics physical every three years.  Typically, that means our students must see a medical provider for a physical as the enter grades 7 and 10.  Most providers have this appropriate SDHSAA forms available and they are also found here.

Students that don’t need a new physical exam completed are still required to complete the interim health questionnaire that can be found here.

All-student athletes are required to complete the following documents prior to participation on an annual basis:

  1. Consent for Medical Treatment
  2. SDHSAA Annual Parent and Student Consent Form
  3. Consent for Release of Medical Information (HIPAA)
  4. Concussion Fact Sheet for Athletes
  5. Concussion Fact Sheet for Parents
  6. Alcohol and Tobacco Use Policy

The Groton Area School District uses the ImPACT Concussion management system as part of its overall concussion management protocol.  This system works best when students complete their own baseline exam every two years.  For most students, that means they complete a baseline exam in grades 7, 9, and 11.  Two times have been established for students that need to complete a new baseline exam.  Testing will be held in the Groton Area Elementary computer lab on Monday, August 5 from 1pm to 4pm and on Tuesday, August 6 from 1pm to 4pm.  In order to complete baseline testing, students must bring a completed copy of the consent document found here.

We look forward to seeing you all very soon.
