This is a required course for 9th grade.

 

Health is the study of contemporary health problems that teenagers will encounter now and in the future and how to deal with them.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 

This is a required course for 9th grade.

 

Physical education class is composed of a variety of activities stressing the importance of physical exercise, individual and team sports, and sportsmanship.  Rules and terms of lifetime activities will be emphasized.  Units taught may be badminton, bowling, floor hockey, archery, pickleball, volleyball, golf, tennis, soccer and dance.  Physical fitness testing will also be required.

 

 

 

 

 

PERSONAL FITNESS                         Grades 11 - 12

 

Personal Fitness is an understanding of the relationship between behavior and health, as well as a means for assessing that relationship.  Personal Fitness is a class designed to allow each student to set and reach optimal wellness goals.  The goals and standards of the class curriculum are to have students monitor, assess, and manage cardiac data, promote wellness, elicit healthy decision making and healthy behavior, and support realistic goals based on individual stages of development and current fitness levels.  Each student will use a heart rate monitor to measure their hearts at work or rest and continuously note their heart’s response to stimuli.
